Tour Overview

The Dunajec flows amid the picturesque mountains of the National Park of Pieniny. Its riverbed is stony and it boasts a number of cascades and meanders. The Dunajec enters a wonderful canyon next to Cerveny Klastor monastery called Prielom Dunajca. Rafting on wooden rafts on this river has recently become a much sought after attraction for tourists on the common Slovak-Polish river reach of the Dunajec.

The Lubovna castle lies on a limestone cliff of 711 m over Stara Lubovna in the north-east of Spis. In the past, it is the place where Polish coronation jewels were hidden and where famous adventurer, noble man and King of Madagascar, Moric Benovsky was imprisoned. An independent museum exhibition is presented by an open air museum in the area at the foot of the castle hill. It consists of a set of folk buildings that form a picturesque settlement around the Castle.

• Pieniny Dunajec river: Rafting - Rafting through the Dunajec river gorge on wooden rafts (about 1.5 hrs)
• Cerveny Klastor: Red Monastery - Originally Lechnicky klastor after 1320. Its name was given by the red color of seven roofs of monastic buildings.
• Stara Lubovna: Lubovna castle - The Lubovna castle is a large complex of individual expositions. The origin of the castle dates back to the beginning of the 14th century.
• Stara Lubovna: Open-air museum - More than twenty-five exhibits of traditional Slovak architecture.
