Tour Overview

Kezmarok is one of towns with the long and famous history. Its position below the Tatras makes it one of the centres of both the summer and winter holiday. Summer is the season when it becomes very lively due to the European Festival of Popular Trades. The buildings in the historic centre are the parts of the Town Monument Reserve. The pride of Kezmarok is the Protestant wooden articled church from 1717.

The Lubovna castle lies on a limestone cliff of 711 m over Stara Lubovna in the north-east of Spis. In the past, it is the place where Polish coronation jewels were hidden and where famous adventurer, noble man and King of Madagascar, Moric Benovsky was imprisoned. An independent museum exhibition is presented by an open air museum in the area at the foot of the castle hill. It consists of a set of folk buildings that form a picturesque settlement around the Castle.

• Kezmarok: Kezmarok castle - Kezmarok castle is situated in the centre of the Kezmarok town. Kezmarok castle offers beautiful, reconstructed areas with the Early Baroque chapel.
• Stara Lubovna: Lubovna castle - The Lubovna castle is a large complex of individual expositions. The origin of the castle dates back to the beginning of the 14th century.
• Stara Lubovna: Open-air museum - More than twenty-five exhibits of traditional Slovak architecture.
